Canadian electro-pop trio Dragonette had a busy 2012: after winning a JUNO Award for their hit single “Hello” and performing live on Good Morning America, they released their third critically acclaimed studio album, Bodyparts. The band spent last fall touring in support of the album, delivering their electrified live show to audiences across the US. Now, fans will have another chance to catch Dragonette live when they hit the road next week with Major Lazer.
To kick off the tour right, Dragonette has shared a brand new remix of Bodyparts opener “Run Run Run.” With a buzzing extended intro that features thumping bass and shimmers of synth, you can grab the “Run Run Run” (Sunshine Jones remix) as a FREE MP3 download
Packing a strong punch with infectious electro rhythms, pulsing beats, and anthemic choruses, don’t miss Dragonette live in your city!

Two years after his debut full length on the label, Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons will release the second artist album, Gordian, by Romanian Cosmin TRG on April 26th. Since that debut, the now Berlin based Cosmin has toured the globe, taking his rusted techno frequencies to places like Fabric, Berghain and Sonar, at the same time as releasing more essential EPs on Rush Hour and 50 Weapons.
The new album marks something of a new direction for Cosmin, however – it’s a much more intricate affair that deals in plenty of fuzzy texture, percussive energy and his trademark skimming bottom ends, but looks outside the techno world for its influences.
“Gordian is as much a document of my past year as it is the beginning of a conversation. The title references an ancient myth, but describes the very contemporary, impossible task of discerning between real and replicated, authentic and contrived. Coping with facts, objects and bodies, the necessity of ‘making it’, fear of failure, fear of ‘not being happy’ are today’s topics, and Gordian is my attempt at an exploration of those issues.”
Starting with the deep, alien laced ambience of ‘New Structures For Living’ its clear from the off Cosmin’s production has continued to improve and evolve since Simulat.Abstract yet heartfelt, it’s followed by the more implosive snare rattles and crossing synth lines of the title track ‘Gordian’ that sounds like a factory gone feral.
Opposing light with dark, density with space, tracks like ‘Desire is Sovereign’ manages to be both propulsive and cerebral. One thing that ties the album to Cosmin’s nuanced back catalogue is the gauziness of tracks like ‘Divided By Design’ where the distant hum of radio frequencies turn your thoughts to Cold War era transmissions lost in blizzards of snow.
Though the heads down surges of tracks like ‘Semipresent’ sure will work on the floor, there’s an underlying narrative that makes this album as suitable for listening on headphones. Non-standard melodies, otherworldly blips and a ruined intergalactic energy seem to course throughout, truly transporting you to another world entirely.

As Crosstown Rebels reach a decade of existence they look back with pride on one of their most prolific years to date with the third episode of their treasured Rebel Rave series. This three disc compendium of their yield from 2012 walks back together through a year which saw them launch a mystical festival, Day Zero, and reconnect with classic artists from the label’s history such as Mathew Jonson, Jamie Jones, Tiga & Dinky as well as typically introducing a sea of new faces such asFrancesca Lombardo, Amirali, Fur Coat and Aidan Lavelle.
The third disc is a nostalgic journey on the whole label’s history mixed together by rising star, Subb-an. Named as DJ Magazines ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ in their 2011 end of year awards, Subb-an’s prodigious studio talents have seen him in demand for remixes of mainstream artists such as Jamie Woon, Lana Del Ray, Noir & Haze and Hollis P Monroe over recent months. An instigator of the infamous Below events in Birmingham and co-owner of One Records alongside Adam Shelton, Subb-an has gradually become cherished worldwide as a tastemaker and musical innovator.
His mix exudes a flair for winning over the dancefloor with graceful stitching and vivacious grooves. He ducks and dives taking a tripped out mood through mind-expanding choices such as Gavin Herlihy’s‘Witching Hour’ and Loco Dice’s remix of Riz MC’s‘Radar’ before steering back to driving into the midst of the night with glorious choices such asD’Julz’s edit of Solomun’s anthemic Rebellionrelease ‘Daddy’s Jam’ and Subb-an’s own‘Misleading’. His peers Jamie Jones, Francesca Lombardo and Amirali also offer highlights to his seamless selection, with Amirali’s ‘Whisper’ adding an epic and graceful close to his episode.
Subb-an will be a main artist featuring on the colossal 10 years of Crosstown Rebel Rave tour in 2013, taking in five continents and eighteen countries alongside the label founder and flagship artist, Damian Lazarus. This global journey will bear fruit to another torrent of mind tripping, off-the-grid events driven by their tight-knit Rebel family of artists.

Bedrock is going from strength to strength already in 2013. Following Miguel Bastida & Florian Kaltstrøm’s superb “De Barcelona a Viena EP” and Two Hand Salute’s buzzing “Scale Up” / “We Are Drum” offering, comes a killer peak-time double-header resulting from a new collaboration between Marco Bailey and Filterheadz.
Marco Bailey is flying high, having just released his critically acclaimed new album “High Volume” on his MB Elektronics label he also regularly releases his work on Bedrock, Intec and Drumcode. Meanwhile, fellow Belgian’s Filterheadz remixed John Digweed and Nick Muir’s classic “Emerald” back in 2003 and have been releasing music on labels such as Intec, 1605, Respekt, Toolroom and MB Elektronics for over 10 years now. After a short break, they returned to the techno scene in summer 2012 and haven’t dropped out of the Beatport Techno Top 100 since!
Having been friends with Marco for over a decade, they started doing some studio sessions together a few months ago and there was such a great chemistry they have emerged with these two killer tracks. “Fifth Avenue” continues to raise the bar where Marco Bailey’s excellent “Watergate EP” (BED85) left off a couple of years ago, teamed with the energetic “Mansion” it forms a perfect peak-time package.
